Captains Andy and Rich meet up with Lou Grazioso of Stripermania Sportfishing Charters (732-687-7673) get in on an amazing early season winter flounder bite in the sheltered waters of Raritan Bay.  They catch too many big founder to count up to 2lbs while using a special new chum formula and bait enhancers.  The techniques in this show can be used by anyone who targets winter flounder anywhere in the region.  If you have questions about any of the equipment used during the show, please contact us or  send us a message
The rod and reel combo used for fluke fishing features a Shimano Calcutta 400s reel on a 6'6" Teramar conventional rod rated for 12-15lb (model TMC66MH).  This is a very versatile conventional outfit and is perfect for working light sinkers on the bottom.  This rig is also perfect for many light tackle fluke sinker bouncing and bucktail applications.

The reel was load with 20lb Berkley Big Game Braid which was attached to a 3ft length of 30# Yo-Zuri Disappearing Pink Fluorocarbon leader using a #10 Mustad Rolling Swivel.  The small profile of the swivel virtually eliminates any chance of picking up debris.

The rig was completed with two 2/0 Mustad Ultrapoint Beak Baitholder Hooks and a bank sinker ranging from 1-2oz.

The new Berkley Gulp Chum was used and was incredibly effective.  It did not have to be changed all day and after fishing it was put back in the bucket for recharging.  The ware was very cold and the fish were sluggish.  Mustad Activate Spray was used on all the baits to ensure that the flounder bit.

The Frabill net seen on this show was model 3814 - 23"x26" Tru-Trax Landing Net (Micro Mesh) -  This is the perfect net for fluke, flounder, blackfish, sea bass, weakfish, etc. as the small mesh size stops sinkers and bucktails from tangling the net.  Frabill makes the perfect net for every application and species.  Click here to see all the different Frabill nets seen on the show!
The boat used was a 22ft Triton powered by a 250hp Mercury Verado.  This boat is the real deal. With a deep-v hull and sharp entry, this boat will knife through a chop that would leave most boats back at the dock.  The deck layout makes it the perfect platform for both inshore and offshore, plugging, trolling, or fishing your favorite hot spot at anchor. .  Click here to learn more about this incredible boat and the gear and Raymarine electronics used on this boat.
