Capt Andy and Capt Rich join up with Capt Nick Savene of No Time Charters (516-889-1968) and get in on a red hot weakfish bite in the protected waters of Raritan Bay, NJ.  The guys use live peanut bunker on a 3-way rig and catch too many fish to count up to 7lbs.  The fish are very aggressive and the action never stops.  If you have questions about any of the equipment used during the show, please contact us or  send us a message
The rod and reel combo seen on the show featured a Shimano Stradic 2500FH reel on a 7' Clarus rod rated for 10-20lb (model CSS-FL70M).  This is a very versatile spinning outfit and is perfect for northeast plugging.

We recommend a reel loaded with 14lb Berkley Fireline which is attached to a 2ft length of 30lb Yo-Zuri Disappearing Pink Fluorocarbon leader using a 80lb Mustad Rolling Swivel.

The rig is completed with 3-way swivel attached another  2ft length of 30lb Yo-Zuri Disappearing Pink Fluorocarbon and a 4/0 Mustad Shiner Hook.  This is a light wire hook that is perfect for maintaining the right presentation with the delicate live peanut bunker baits.  The final loop of the swivel was tied to a 1ft length of leader that  is attached to a 1 1/2-3oz bank sinker.

All the tackle used on Northeast Angling is stored in Ameripack tackle systems.  The Backpack Tackle system is used to get the tackle to the fish!  All the rods and reels are transported using the Rod Pods and the Reel Locker.  They insure that everything makes it to the shoot in perfect condition.  Their versatile Fly Boxes are also used for bucktails and rigs.

The raging current made the net choice especially critical.  A Frabill Powercatch net with it's extendable handle was used and ensured that none of the fish were lost at boat-side.  This is a a great net that stores easily and all you have to do is slide, lock and load and it is ready to go!
The boat used was a 2486CC Triton powered by twin 150hp Mercury Optimax engines.  This boat is one tough customer. With a deep-v hull and sharp entry the 2486 can handle almost anything the northeast can dish out.  The deck layout makes it the perfect platform for both inshore and offshore, plugging, trolling, or fishing your favorite hot spot at anchor.  Click here to learn more about this incredible boat or click here to learn about the gear and Raymarine electronics on this boat.
LoadRite supplied the tandem axel roller trailed used to haul the boat.  This trailer made launching and recovery a breeze and provided a real sense of security on the road.  Click here to locate the LoadRite dealer nearest to you.
