Capt Andy and Capt Rich hook up with 2004 ASA Champion Skip Stritzinger.  They travel to remote Nomans Land Island just south  of Martha's Vineyard in search of a grand slam of Striped Bass, Fluke, and Sea Bass.  The island has a reputation for quality fish and lots of them and the guys are not disappointed!  If you have questions about any of the equipment used during the show, please contact us or  send us a message
The rod and reel combo used for striped bass  featured a Shimano Sedona 6000FB reel on a 7' Clarus rod rated for 10-20lb (model CSS-FL70M).  This is a very versatile spinning outfit and is perfect for northeast plugging.

We recommend a reel loaded with 20lb Berkley Big Game which is attached to a 3-4ft length of 50lb Yo-Zuri Disappearing Pink Fluorocarbon leader using a 130lb Mustad Rolling Swivel. The rig is completed with a 5/0 Mustad Ultrapoint Beak Bait style hook.  This is an incredibly sharp hook and is the most effective hook when using live eels.

The rod and reel combo we recommend for fluke and sea bass  features a Shimano Corvalus 400 reel on a 7' Compre rod rated for 10-20lb (model CPC-M70MH).  This is a very versatile conventional outfit and is perfect for bottom fishing in the northeast.

We recommend a reel loaded with 30lb Berkley Fireline which is attached to a 3ft length of 50lb Yo-Zuri Disappearing Pink Fluorocarbon leader using a 130lb Mustad Rolling Swivel  The rig is completed with a 1-1 1/2oz white, chartreuse, or glow Hookup bucktail tipped with a squid or herring strip bait.

All the tackle used on Northeast Angling is stored in Ameripack tackle systems.  The Backpack Tackle system is used to get the tackle to the fish!  All the rods and reels are transported using the Rod Pods and the Reel Locker.  They insure that everything makes it to the shoot in perfect condition.  Their versatile Fly Boxes are also used for bucktails and rigs.

The raging current made the net choice especially critical.  A Frabill Powercatch net with it's extendable handle was used and ensured that none of the fish were lost at boat-side.  This is a a great net that stores easily and all you have to do is slide, lock and load and it is ready to go!
The boat used was a 2286CC Triton powered by a 250hp Mercury Verado.  This boat is the real deal. With a deep-v hull and sharp entry, the 2286 will knife through a chop that would leave most boats back at the dock.  The deck layout makes it the perfect platform for both inshore and offshore, plugging, trolling, or fishing your favorite hot spot at anchor.  Click here to learn more about this incredible boat or click here to learn about the gear and Raymarine electronics on this boat.
LoadRite supplied the tandem axel roller trailed used to haul the boat.  This trailer made launching and recovery a breeze and provided a real sense of security on the road.  Click here to locate the LoadRite dealer nearest to you.
The boat was launched at Tripps Marina (508-636-4058) in Westport Point, MA.  This facility has a full service marina that has slips that can accommodate boats up to 65ft.  They have moorings available for boats up to 45ft.  It has electric, 20ton haul-out, fuel (gas/diesel), pump out, ship store, laundry, heads, showers and many other amenities.  There are also repair facilities for power and sail boats and they sell and service both inboard and outboard engines.
Accommodations were provided by the New Bedford Days Inn (508-997-1231).  This hotel was only minutes away from the fishing and had all the amenities that one would expect of a Days Inn including conference facilities and an indoor pool.  They also have a guest laundry facility open 24 hours a day and full banquet and meeting spaces available that can accommodate from 2 to 380 people.
Capt Andy and Rich wear polarized sunglasses supplied by Azores Eyewear.  Finally someone has come out with a premium sunglass line at a reasonable price (less than $80).  The polarized lenses eliminate glare and allows anglers to spend long hours on the water without having to worry about headaches and eyestrain.  All models have 100% UVA and UVB protection.  Never settle for anything else.  No angler should be without these  glasses.
