Andy and Rich team up with Fisherman editor Tim Melton in search of trophy weakfish in the western LI sound.  Some of the biggest fish of the year are caught in this location and the guys score big with monster fish to over 13lbs!  All of the fish are caught using bucktails on light spinning tackle. If you have questions about any of the equipment used during the show, please contact us or  send us a message
The rod and reel combo seen on the show featured a Shimano Stradic 2500FH reel on a 7' Clarus rod rated for 10-20lb (model CSS-FL70M).  This is a very versatile spinning outfit and is perfect for working light bucktails on the bottom.

We recommend a reel loaded with 14lb Berkley Fireline which is attached to a 2ft length of 30lb Yo-Zuri Disappearing Pink Fluorocarbon leader using a 50lb SPRO Power Swivel.  The small profile of the swivel virtually eliminates any chance of picking up debris.

The rig is topped off with either a 1/2oz SPRO Bucktail Jig in either white or chartreuse tipped with a white or pink Exude Saltwater Curly Tail Grub

All the tackle used on Northeast Angling is stored in Ameripack tackle systems.  The Backpack Tackle system is used to get the tackle to the fish!  All the rods and reels are transported using the Rod Pods and the Reel Locker.  They insure that everything makes it to the shoot in perfect condition.  Their versatile Fly Boxes are also used for bucktails and rigs.

The raging current made the net choice especially critical.  A Frabill Powercatch net with it's extendable handle was used and ensured that none of the fish were lost at boat-side.  This is a a great net that stores easily and all you have to do is slide, lock and load and it is ready to go!
The boat used was a 2286CC Triton powered by a 250hp Mercury Verado.  This boat is the real deal. With a deep-v hull and sharp entry, the 2286 will knife through a chop that would leave most boats back at the dock.  The deck layout makes it the perfect platform for both inshore and offshore, plugging, trolling, or fishing your favorite hot spot at anchor.  Click here to learn more about this incredible boat or click here to learn about the gear and Raymarine electronics on this boat.
LoadRite supplied the tandem axel roller trailed used to haul the boat.  This trailer made launching and recovery a breeze and provided a real sense of security on the road.  Click here to locate the LoadRite dealer nearest to you.
Capt Andy and Rich wear polarized sunglasses supplied by Azores Eyewear.  Finally someone has come out with a premium sunglass line at a reasonable price (less than $80).  The polarized lenses eliminate glare and allows anglers to spend long hours on the water without having to worry about headaches and eyestrain.  All models have 100% UVA and UVB protection.  Never settle for anything else.  No angler should be without these  glasses.
