Captain Andy LoCascio and Captain Rich Tenreiro hooked up with good friend and respected outdoor contributor John Luchka for some red hot topwater bass and blue action in their own back yard.  In addition to hosting the show, Captain Andy runs Long Island Fishing Charters and Captain Rich runs R&G Charters in these very same waters.  The guys experienced some fast and furious action with fish to 15lbs all on popping plugs!  The techniques and tackle in this show can be used by anyone who loves too see fish crashing the surface in pursuit of their prey.  If you have questions about any of the equipment used during the show, please contact us or  send us a message
The outfits used consisted of a Shimano Stradic 4000 spinning reels on the new Teramar rods.  These 7' medium heavy, fast action rods were a perfect for the reels and lures used in this show.   The casting distance and hook setting power are exactly what is needed.

The reels were loaded with 20lb Berkley Fireline.  A 24" leader of 40lb Berkley Vanish fluorocarbon was attached to the main line using an 80lb SPRO Power Swivel Yo-Zuri Surface Cruiser plugs in both 6" (1 3/8oz) and 6 3/4" (2 1/8oz) sizes and a variety of colors (they all worked) proved to be irresistible.  They were easy to work, had tremendous casting distance, and drew dramatic strikes from the fish.
All the tackle used on Northeast Angling is stored in Ameripack tackle systems.  The Backpack Tackle system is used to get the tackle to the fish!  All the rods and reels are transported using the Rod Pods and the Reel Locker.  They insure that everything makes it to the shoot in perfect condition.  Their versatile Fly Boxes are also used for bucktails and rigs.

Nearly all of the bigger fish were netted with a Frabill Powercatch net.  The extendable handle was used and ensured that none of the fish were lost at boat-side.  This is a a great net that stores easily and all you have to do is slide, lock and load and it is ready to go!
LoadRite supplied the tandem axel roller trailed used to haul the boat.  This trailer made launching and recovery a breeze and provided a real sense of security on the road.  Click here to locate the LoadRite dealer nearest to you.
