| Capt Andy and Rich hooked up with New England shark
authority
Capt Bill Brown
(860 741-3301). Bill Brown is a prolific outdoor writer, seminar
speaker, successful tournament angler and one of the finest fishermen we
have ever met. We told him we wanted to do something special for this
show. He was confident that he could get us a big Mako or
Thresher and he did not disappoint us! We capped off an early day
filled with very respectable blue sharks by hooking into a monster fish.
We ran the boat hard and Bill put enormous pressure on the fish and 45
minutes later we had a 480lb Thresher subdued at boat side. The
techniques and tackle in this show can be used by anyone who dares to
chase these fearsome creatures. If you have questions about any of
the equipment used during the show, please contact us
or send us a message. |

| The outfits used
consisted of a
Shimano
TLD50 and TLD30 2-speed reels on a 5'8" XH
Tallus conventional rods rated for 30-60lb and 20-40lb test line
respectively. This combination is perfect for this type of
fishing. We subdued the monster thresher in less than 45 minutes and had
no problem handling blue sharks up to 250lbs. |

| All the tackle used on
Northeast Angling is stored in
Ameripack tackle
systems. The Backpack Tackle system is used to get the tackle to
the fish! All the rods and reels are transported using the Rod
Pods and the Reel Locker. They insure that everything makes it to
the shoot in perfect condition. Their versatile Fly Boxes are also
used for bucktails and rigs. |

| The boat was kept at the Block
Island Boat Basin (401 466-2631) on Block Island, RI. Very special
thanks go out to Joe and his fantastic staff that took really good care
of us. This facility has 85 guest slips, gas, diesel, electricity,
marine store, provisions, water, ice, showers, telephone, toilets,
parking, a restaurant, floating docks (no rafting), depths up to 10 ft.,
LOA up to 100 ft. We could not have pulled this shoot off without their
help! |
|
| Accommodations were
provided by the
Springhouse
Hotel (401 466-5844). There are no words to describe how
beautiful this hotel is. It sits atop a hill overlooking Old
Harbor and the views are incredible. Special thanks go out to
Tracy, Dave, Eli (the chef who cooked our fish), Frank (owner), and all
the staff. It is the islands oldest and most historic resort and
hotel. The rooms, food, and drink were strictly top shelf and
there is simply no better hotel on this island! If you come to
Block Island this must be your first choice for accommodations. |
