| Captains Andy and Rich headed back up to
Hyannis, MA in mid-September to get in on an amazing Sea Bass bite. Captain Mike
Joe Weinberg of the
Fish Hawk (508-790-9777)
put the guys on a piece of bottom that was simply loaded with big fish.
They put the bait away and switched to diamond jigs and teasers. The bite was non-stop and they caught way too many
fish to count. Many of the fish were over 5lbs and some real
monsters mixed in.
If you have questions about any of the
equipment used during the show, please contact us

| The outfit used consisted of a
Shimano
Tekota 500 conventional reel on a matching 7' MH medium fast action
Tallus rod rated for17-30lb test line. This combination is a
great fit for this type of fishing. If you are not familiar with the great
line of rods offered by Shimano,

| The reels were loaded with
30lb
Spiderwire Stealth. The thin diameter and lack of stretch were
perfect for the strong current and provided a very effective hook set. The
main line was attached to the rig with a 130lb
SPRO Power
Swivel. The rig we recommend consists of a 3ft
length of 80lb
Berkley Vanish
fluorocarbon with a dropper loop tied 24" above either a smooth or
hammered diamond jig from
West End Fishing Tackle. The shape of these jigs is by far the
best and most effective we have ever used. The dropper loop was
passed through the eye of a 5/0 black
Mustad
Ultrapoint Beak Bait
hook on which a
Mister
Twister Exude scented
Exude Shrimp was threaded. The teaser was deadly and accounted
for most of the fish. |

| These strong, fast fish made the net choice especially
critical. A
Frabill
Powercatch net with it's extendable handle was used and ensured that
none of the fish were lost at boat-side. This is a a great net that stores easily and all
you have to do is slide, lock and
load and it is ready to go! |
