| We could not have dreamed of a
better season! The fishing was great, our guests were sharp, and the locations were
spectacular! We were only weathered out of a couple of shows. We had
too many memorable moments and catches to fit into the "season in review"
show.. Every show had
at least two or three clips that were worth seeing again. We narrowed it
down to only a handful, but what we left on the cutting room floor
was just as good as what we chose to share with our viewers. To see the
entire list of this season's shows, visit the Show
Archive. We were really fortunate that for a
first year show we were able to get the finest possible collection of marine
sponsors. Folks like Shimano, Edgewater, Azores, SPRO, Mustad,
Stillwater, Frabill, Ameripack, SIMRAD, West End Tackle, and
AquaSkinz. All of these manufacturers are the best in their class.

Western LI Sound, NY - Striped Bass on Peanuts
Fishing only minutes for New York City, Andy and Rich targeted school
size striped bass using a technique borrowed from the southern fisherman.
They had loaded the live well with hundreds of peanut bunker (juvenile menhaden).
Late in the day, they pulled up to a shallow water spot and started throwing
handfuls across the surface of the water. In a few minutes they had a
very good bite going. Fish from up and down the shore heard the commotion
and came in to feed. A big boil in front of the boat drew their
attention and they both cast baits at it. Rich ended up hooking the best fish
of the day. He had no chance of stopping the initial run with the
light tackle he was using. The fish headed down the shoreline and if
it wasn't for some quick boat handling, it would have never made to boat
side! |

Orient Point, NY - Fluke In
late May, the word got out about a red hot fluke bite on the north fork of
Long Island. Andy and Rich hooked up with Captain Bob Rochetta for a
very special day. On the way out they came across four deer swimming
from Shelter Island to Orient. The deer ignored them as they cruised
on by. Everything went right that day and the fluke were hungry.
Most of the time the drift was just slow enough to let them fish with 3oz
jigs and fluke bullets. When it wasn't, they used the motor to stem the
tide and slow the drift. There were plenty of double/triple
headers and when it looked like Andy had the best of the day, Rich
scored with a very impressive fish. |

Hartford, CT - Topwater Stripers
Who would have believed you could catch teen-size stripers more than 50
miles up river from the nearest body of saltwater. River guide Jordan Paullo hosted Andy
and Rich and showed them an amazing topwater striper bite. Near the
end of the day Andy hooked a monster fish on a very light spinning outfit
and was on it so long that Rich had a chance to hook, land, and
release two fish! Andy finally did get that fish to the boat and proved once and for all what a great spring striper fishery they have on the
Connecticut River. |

Jeffreys Ledge - Sharks Big
fish, big tackle - Captain John Pirie warned Andy and Rich that they were
going to be battling some monsters! They headed out to Jeffreys Ledge
and spent the day wrestling with some big blue sharks. Near the end of
the day, a fish came up in the slick. Andy wanted to pitch a bait at
it on a very light rig. John and Rich made him hold off until they got
a better look at the fish. Lucky they did. Andy ended up hooking
a fish well over 250lbs. The battle was long. What should have
been a tired fish, went wild when brought to the boat. |

Stamford, CT - Blackfish
What happens when you put two great Blackfish pros on the same boat in front
of a camera? All out mugging and trash talking were the order of the
day. Andy was forced to survive a day off Stamford, CT with guest
"Crazy" Alberto Knie and co-host Rich Tenreiro. Andy barely held his
own against two of the sharpest blackfish pros around. The bite was
red hot the moment they arrived and barely slowed during the course of the
day. Late in the day, Rich ends up hooking a big one. Alberto
shows off his skills by landing a fish that when mounted, would fit neatly
on a key chain. |

Massachusetts Bay - Topwater Tuna
It was late in the season and our hosts made one more trip up north.
This time, they were chasing big bluefins off the coast of Cape Ann, MA.
Captain John Pirie was their guest for a wild day of run and gun topwater
tuna fishing. Racing across the sea at speeds of nearly 60mph, staying
on their feet and keeping their hats on was quite a challenge. This is
an incredible fishery that requires a very fast boat, top-notch equipment,
sharp eyes and the balance of an Olympic gold medal gymnast. Rich
(ever the pioneer) puts on a Stillwater Smack-It right out of the package
and promptly hooks up with a 65lb bluefin. He barely contained his
excitement as the fish ripped yards of line out of his reel. |
